Emerson Martin Cole Rites are held in Atlantic
Martin E. (Tim) Cole of Lewis, IA, passed away on March 3, 1990 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital. Tim was born in Kirkwood, IL, on April 14, 1917 to Joe and Bertha Cole. Tim farmed in Mills and Pottawattamie counties for many years. He served as town marshal in Macedonia and was a special deputy for Pottawattamie County. He also worked in construction throughout southwest Iowa. Mr. Cole, a World War II veteran, was awarded the purple heart, silver star, bronze star and other awards.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, a resident of the Atlantic Care Center; two daughters, Nancy Schroetlin of Loveland, CO, and Sheri Dailey of Fort Collins, CO; a son, David Sperling of Dresden, ND; four stepdaughters, Barbara Miller of Omaha; Ethel Filkins of Grant, Doris Boyer of Woodbine, and Mary Mayberry of Glenwood; four stepsons, Wayne Holiday of Auburn, DA, Ralph Holiday of Buena Park, CA, Ross Holiday of Stockton, DCA, and David Scott of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mrs. Elton (Ethel) George of Nampa, ID, and Mrs. Herbert (Betty) Barder of Lisle, IL; three brothers, Malcolm, of Council Bluffs, John, of La Fontaine, IN, and James, of Pensacola, FL; numerous grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry, his parents, and two brothers, Ralph and Charles.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on March 7, 1990 at the Mullen Funeral Home in Atlantic. Military rites by the Henderson Denlinger Post 530 of the American Legion were held at the Farm Creek Cemetery prior to burial there.
