2006 ALUMNI REUNION
91ST BANQUET
MINUTES - MAY 27, 2006
The 91st Annual Henderson High School Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the local Community Building at 7:00 p.m. We were pleased to have 86 members and guests present. President Nancy Van Pelt invited all to be seated, with the invocation given by Wanda Williams. All then proceeded to the buffet of roast beef, chicken breast, and all the trimmings served by Shirley Straight and her capable helpers. It was delicious and all responded with a hearty “Thank You” to the fine cooks!
President Van Pelt began the Roll Call of Classes with 1938, as there were none present from earlier years. Harry Paul and Bill Harbor represented their Class. The Class of 1943 did very well: All of their living members were present: Ruby Godfrey, Betty Raney, Stan Harold, Tom Aukland, Everett McGrew, and Louie Farrington. Good for them! The 50-year Honor Class had decorated their table in fine style. Those present from 1956 were Elaine Kahl Knight, Gary Stephens, Irene Cole Skank, Steve Steiner, and Barbara Frink. Irene spoke in behalf of her Class. She, too, had brought some outfits from their school years. It was good to have Alumni present to the year 1964. Present from the 1946 Class were Jim Holt of Knoxville, Wendell Harold of Council Bluffs, and Leo Boileau of Glenwood.
The minutes of last year’s Banquet were read by Wanda Williams, and later the Treasurer’s Report. Some further discussion was made about the class picture display, and a collection was received. We hope we will soon have enough to purchase same, and have it ready by next year. Alice Allensworth was named an Honorary Alumni member. We thank her for promoting our picture display project.
Wanda then gave the Historian’s Report.
Since the Nominating Committee had little luck recruiting volunteers, it was decided to re-elect the same ones for another. Flattery will get you nowhere!
President – Nancy Van Pelt; Vice-President – Judy Magers; Secretary/Treasurer/Historian – Wanda Williams
Jerry Duysen was asked to come and lead us in the Henderson Fight Song. We were then adjourned to visit.

92ND BANQUET
MINUTES - MAY 26, 2007
The 92nd Annual Henderson High School Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the local Community Building. There were 82 members and guests present. President Nancy Van Pelt invited all to be seated, followed by the invocation by Wanda Williams. Everyone enjoyed a delicious roast beef and ham ball buffet with all the trimmings served by Shirley and Duane. It was so GOOD as usual. They received a hearty “Thanks” for the wonderful meal.
The business meeting was opened by the reading of the minutes of the last Banquet, the Treasurer’s Report, and the past year’s history. The Donald Allensworth family presented a $300 memorial to the Alumni. We thank them so much for this generous gift. We were pleased that Alice and their three daughters were present. A “Thank you” was expressed toward those who had completed the purchased picture display. We think all enjoyed seeing it. Thanks for all the donations given toward its purchase. Some had suggested we have our meal served earlier. Robert Fleming made the motion we eat at 6:00 p.m., seconded by Jo Ann Houser. Motion carried. So shall it be.
Nancy began Roll Call of Classes with 1936. Vera Fritcher Skank present from her class. Harry Paul and Bill Harbor represented the 1938 Class. Darlene Bolton and Randall Moore were present from the 1947 60-year Class. Six were present from the 1957 50-year Class: Judy Magers, Nancy Flaherty, Nancy Van Pelt, Ramona Sellers, Jim Winchester, and Larry Hilliard. They have two deceased members: Vance Allensworth and Elvin Asell. Judy spoke on their behalf, reading their Class Will and a humorous poem about “Old Age.” We can all identify with it.
Bryan Sowers, Nominating Chair, reported that this year’s officers will retain their positions for the next year:
President – Nancy Van Pelt; Vice-President – Judy Magers; Secretary/Treasurer/Historian – Wanda Williams.
Due to popular request, Jerry Duysen led all in singing “The Old Gray Mare” (formerly led in past years by Paul Phillips), followed by the Henderson Fight Song.
